Are condos pet friendly?
YES! Recognizing that everyone has a pet these days, almost all condo communities allow pets. Some new communities like Portland on the Park even have dog washing facilities.
In a good economy or bad economy the pet industry always thrives. Developers of new condos are capitalizing on this and developing super pet friendly communities with dog grooming and dog washing facilities and even dog walking areas. In many communities you will find a resident who offers dog walking and/or dog sitting services.
There are only a handful of older communities that have restrictions Scottsdale Shadows and Executive Towers and even those are transitioning into a pet friendly communities!. is starting to allow
All communities will have either a breed or size restriction. Most recently, Phoenix Urban Spaces has been working with some HOA’s to revise the weight restrictions. It seems people have bigger dogs these days!
Many communities will require your pet to be up-to-date on all its vaccinations. Plus if you are going to live in Maricopa County, your dog must be licensed every year. According to the ASPCA – American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, it’s estimated that there are 70-80 million dogs and 74-96 million cats currently living with pet parents across the United States.
