About Gilbert
Positioned in the southeast valley, in the 1920’s Gilbert was known as a sleepy farming town and the “Hay Capital of the World.” Today, this town receives national attention for its friendly atmosphere, excellent schools, unmatched expansion, small-town feel and big-city amenities. In fact, over the past two decades, has been ranked among the fastest growing towns in the country. Even with this rapid growth, it was still named the safest municipality in Arizona and rests among the Top 25 Safest Places to Live in the United States. Still holds a placement on CNN Money Magazine’s list of “Best Places to Live” in the United States in 2014. For these and many reasons, more than 215,000 residents continue to call Gilbert home.
Interestingly, Gilbert’s agricultural history is due in part to the proximity of the ancient Hohokam tribe’s once expansive canal systems that converted the surrounding desert areas into workable fields. Today, the agricultural industry has declined as the area continues to transition into one focused on aerospace and technology. Other popular employment areas include health services, renewable energy, and a large number of corporate facilities.

For those parents who prefer a parochial or private school education, there are a number of options available.

Parks and Recreation
Gilbert’s beautiful natural surroundings and excellent weather make it a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. The Riparian Institute, a 110-acre nature preserve, is one of the main draws, as well as the Big League Dreams Sports Park, which features scaled down replicas of famous baseball stadiums from around the country. Home to more than 26 parks, five aquatic centers and public pools, seven special use facilities and two libraries, this town offers something for everyone. Cosmo Dog Park, which has been named one of the best in the country, is another great example and offers a lake for dogs, and individual facilities for small or timid dogs. If you enjoy the arts, you will also find a number of local museums including the Gilbert Historical Society and the Heard Museum of Anthropology and Primitive Arts. Additionally, those residents who are avid golfers will find numerous world-class championship golf courses near-by. The perfect Arizona weather makes golf a year-round sport here in Arizona.
